Defining Destinations

A spotlight on three distinctive projects that demonstrate our expertise, approach and ambition.
  • Elland Road

An ambitious vision to transform Elland Road into a world-class sporting and mixed-use destination, creating a new focal point for South Leeds. RISE led the masterplanning and development strategy for the stadium expansion and wider 4 million sq ft regeneration, bringing together sport, leisure, commercial and community uses. A major milestone was achieved with planning approval for the 53,000-seat stadium, laying the foundations for the wider transformation of the area, with improved connectivity and a proposed new tram link central to its long-term success.

    Key takeaways

    • 40-acre regeneration masterplan
    • Stadium expansion to 53,000 seats
    • Up to 2,500 new homes
  • Westfield London

Opening in 2008, Westfield London transformed a former industrial site in White City into one of Europe’s leading retail and leisure destinations. Its subsequent expansion introduced a new retail district, enhanced public spaces and an expanded luxury retail offer, further establishing its position as a landmark London destination. Before founding RISE, Keith Whitmore, Simon Cochrane and members of the wider team held senior leadership roles within the organisations responsible for delivering both phases. Their experience across construction, development and design continues to inform the expertise and approach they bring to RISE today.

    Key takeaways

    • 2.6 million sq ft retail, dining and leisure destination
    • £1.8 billion total construction value
    • 38 million average annual visitors
  • Stratford City

Stratford City is one of London’s most significant regeneration projects, transforming former railway and industrial land in East London into a thriving new urban centre. At its heart, Westfield Stratford City opened in 2011, playing a central role in the area’s transformation ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games and helping establish Stratford as a major commercial, residential and cultural hub. The project forms an important part of the collective experience of RISE’s founders and wider team, who contributed to its delivery during their previous careers, before coming together at RISE.

    Key takeaways

    • Over 315 stores and 80 dining destinations
    • 1 million sq ft of office space
    • Over 50 million average annual visitors
